So let's start using vmWare solutions to perform our installation. Go to the vmWare website and get your free virtualization product. Once finished the vmWare installation, we can start to create out first Virtual Machine.
Click on New Virtual Machine link and follow the step as you can see on the provided image (AVANTI means NEXT, and INDIETRO means BACK)
Select on7th step the disk capacity you prefer, keeping in mind that a custom Linux installation can take up 1GB and a base Oracle Database 10g installation require approximately 1.5GB of disk space for the base Oracle 10g installation and 1GB of disk space is needed to create a database using the Database Configuration Assistant.
We can summarize the recommended minimum hardware requirements for Oracle 10g.
- Memory: 256MB.
- Swap space: 512MB or two times the amount of RAM.
- Temp space: 400MB of free space in the /tmp directory on Unix systems.
- Free disk space: 1.5GB of disk space for the base Oracle 10g installation. 1GB of disk space to create a database using the Database Configuration Assistant (dbca executable).
Next time we'll begin to installing linux CentOS on our virtual machine...
